I am sorry for the all caps, but I think this video warrants it. Just watch Matt and Tim be more adorable than you could ever dare imagine. Sometimes I just can't with them.

Person of Interest

Inspired by [personal profile] rosabelle 's new tv show post.

I have been meaning to start watching Person of Interest for awhile. The premise seemed fascinating and io9's constant praise of the show made it seem like a good idea. Honestly, I am not watching many plot driven shows, as opposed to shows that are more character driven, so it's a bit of a nice change of pace. I've only seen the first six episodes, (no spoilers please!) so it is possible that the show becomes more character driven as we learn more about them. Actually, take that back. The show is character driven, and that character is the machine. The slash goggles aren't on quite yet, but a quick look at AO3 says that they might be activated soon. I didn't read any of the descriptions of course for fear of spoilers, I just looked at the number of fics written for each pairing. I look forward to reading them and going through tumblr once I have caught up.

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 2

Day 2

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you didnot create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rarepairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes.Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to aparticular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate
them.

I have read so much fic that it was hard to pickjust three. I decided to pic from three different fandoms to show some variety. I picked these fics because they were fics that weren't traditionally my cup of tea so to speak, but they touched me somewhere special anyhow.

Citizens of Amity  by thingswithwings

There are shows that I absolutely love, but for one reason of another have no interest in reading any of the fanfic like Community. I don't remember how I found this fic, but I am glad I did. The characterizations are spot on and even though the characters go out of their canon comfort zones, it still seems believable enough that it could see it happening on the show (if it wasn't on primetime tv).

Wings of Desire  by elrhiarhodan

I never understood wingfic before I read this fic. I had no idea why one specific change in anatomy would be so popular, but the emotion of this fic really changed my mind about the whole trope.

Stained by ElleOL

When given the choice, I will always choose fluff over angst. I cry so easily when reading fic, it's almost embarrassing. When a fic has a self-harm trigger warning, I usually click back twice as fast. I am glad I took a chance with this fic because it really is beautiful.

Personal Post

I had wanted to write a 2012 summary post, but honestly I have never really been public introspection kind of person. This is probably obvious for the fact that I rarely post something to my journal that isn't fan fiction. Right now I am recovering from[community profile] cottoncandy_bingo, which was my first bingo ever and I completed a single line bingo.

I also met some great fans in person this year during my NYC trips to find the WC cast and my California vacation.

I also met some other people.

And this very bad picture of me, but it was a crazy night.

I really can't complain much about 2012. I finished grad school, even though I don't have a paying job right now. I have a couple of volunteer jobs though and at least they keep my busy and out of the house. I do hope someday that I will get a well paying enough job so that I can move out of my parents' house. But that seems like such a distant dream at this point. My anxiety is still a constant companion, but I feel like I have made excellent strides this year in managing it thanks to medicine, therapy, friends and fandom.

I posted my bingo table behind the cut because I am so very proud of it.Collapse )
